YTK Enhanced will not load

I currently have several registered copies of YTK Enhanced, on one laptop it will not load (running windows 7), on the other it loads and runs ok BUT the cam will not work when running YTK (running vista), on all i am using the free version of McAfee from my ISP provider. I tryed running the laptop that YTK will not load on in safe mode and it works fine. i also made sure that YTK had full access in and out going in my firewall still did not work, and i totally disabled my firewall but it still would not work. The no cam issue has been going on for a long time and i posted my problem here but had no response and the post disappeared? I really miss using YTK in the chat rooms with my cam but have not been able to use the cam for some time. Can anyone give me advice on what do to about these 2 problems? I would hate to think i have to buy Norton for all my computers just to use YTK again AND the cam issue is really frustrating. tryed all the differant cam servers with no good results. Thanks for any help.

This is most likely caused by McAfee. In the past McAfee has caused considerable issues with YTK. We've even tried contacting McAfee about how their software is false flagging YTK. They offered no help and apparently when McAfee decides something is harmful there is no reasoning with them. Also there is no workaround within McAfee software.

Make sure to run it as administrator. Right click the YTK desktop shortcut and click "Run as administrator".

The webcam not working is an issue caused by a change Yahoo! made. Adam & Brock are aware of this and it will be addressed in the next update of YTK.

It may also be caused by YMSGv102. Try unchecking auto-reconnect on Yahoo! Messenger's login panel. Sign in and see if your cam works then.

That's a definite indication that security software on your laptop is interfering with YTK.

It's most likely not your firewall. But the culprit is probably McAfee. Short of removing McAfee there is probably nothing that will fix it.

Get NOD32. It blows McAfee and Norton out of the water. Also, Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free anti-virus.

The two free AV's I'd recommend are Avast! free edition and Avira free edition (formerly AntiVir Personal). Avast! free is by far my current favorite of all the free AV's and is packed full of features and with the anti-virus signatures being updated multiple times a day automatically by default. It performs as well in many detection tests as the top premium AV's do. If you want the best premium/paid Antivirus software or a full-blown Antivirus AND internet security suite (firewall etc) then I'd recommend either VIPRE Internet Security or Kaspersky. VIPRE's scanning engine is amazingly fast and highly accurate, it doesn't bog down your computer even during a full scan of your entire hard drive. It does really well in the malware tests too and is the most resource-friendly AV you'll find that is in the top 3 Antivirus solutions.

Kaspersky has always been the top dog (along with Eset's NOD32) but I no longer recommend NOD32 or anything from Eset because lately they haven't been doing as well as they used to in the detection tests. In fact, Norton has made a comeback and is now in the top 5, most of the time in the top 3 for detection rate scoring and other misc tests. NOD32, however, is still a great AV, lightweight, and resource-friendly (not quite as lightweight and efficient as VIPRE though). I would never recommend Norton regardless of how well it's currently doing so I'd go with buying (if you ever plan to go premium) Kaspersky or VIPRE; Kaspersky doing as good or better in most tests but is pretty unforgiving on your system resources with deep heuristics scanning and other CPU cycle expensive core features enabled.

Just an update, i got the unit running windows 7 going and webcam broadcasting by changing a setting in enhanced setting to WC1.MSG,VIP.RE2YAHOO.COM AS PRIMARY AND WC1.MSG.VIP.SP2.YAHOO.COM for secondary and changing firewall setting to full acess from outbound only (MacAfee). BUT on the Vista unit cam will still not connect. all the settings are the same. Any ideas here? it is set to run in admin mode all works good but the cam will not connect. Any ideas here? or just wait for the update coming? Thanks for the past help, atleast i can use it on one computer

The next update of YTK will address the webcam issue. Yahoo made a change awhile back. So YTK needs a change as well. Then all will be well.
