It is fairly simple to prevent Windows XP from deleting System Restore points on Vista and up when running a dual boot system. In the URL above it has a reg file you can install. Or manual instructions which show what entries need to be added to the registry.

The trick is to make Windows XP think the hard disk with the newer OS (operating system) is offline. So it (XP) no longer monitors it and deletes System Restore points on your newer OS.
